“A collection of photos and descriptions
of some of my regenerative projects.”
At the Gumboot Restaurant Garden in Roberts Creek, Dave designed and developed a full one-acre garden — including a hoop house — to provide daily fresh greens and seasonal produce for the restaurant’s “100-Foot Diet” menu. His soil-building techniques and plant selection created a resilient, nutrient-dense harvest year after year.
Dave launched a regenerative garden project in collaboration with the Salish Soils Regenerative Farm Society and the Sechelt Hospital to begin supplying nutrient dense produce for hospital patients and staff. Across each project, Dave brought not only his deep agronomic knowledge, but also a clear sense of purpose — that healthy soil leads to healthy food, which leads to healthier communities.
These projects remain ongoing legacies of what’s possible when you treat the soil as a living system and grow food with care, respect, and vision.

Working with Farmer Dave was an absolute pleasure. He guided us step-by-step in setting up 12 raised garden beds at our home in Roberts Creek, with a focus on growing vegetables that would sustain us with an extended, abundant harvest throughout the growing season. Together we planned for a diverse selection of crops—baby greens, salad mix, carrots, kale, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets—and even added a few blueberry bushes to round things out.
Dave was meticulous in helping us build a healthy soil foundation. He advised us on the right ratio of crushed mineral base to compost and topsoil, producing a rich, well-balanced growing medium. From there, he helped us choose high-quality organic seeds and seedlings and gave us detailed guidance on seed spacing, companion planting, and planting schedules to ensure a continuous harvest.
He also helped map the garden beds based on our property’s sunlight patterns and created an efficient watering schedule that kept things thriving through the summer heat.
As vegetarians, fresh produce is a central part of our diet—and thanks to Dave, we enjoyed daily harvests of nutrient-rich, plastic-free greens right from our own backyard. The garden truly nourished us in every way.
Dave’s fee was very reasonable, especially considering the depth of his knowledge, his personal care, and his commitment to helping others grow real food. He genuinely cares about healthy soil, healthy plants, and healthy people.
We recommend him wholeheartedly and without reservation.
